Software Developer (Big Data) role working remotely as part of the motivated development team at EMIS X Analytics.

Our vision

Our EMIS X Analytics team are building a data analytics platform to help the NHS manage one of the richest healthcare datasets in the world. Currently housing nearly 50tb of data and able to query 1.5 billion rows of data every second, our platform is designed to unlock the potential of healthcare data to drive efficiency and deliver better care.

Your new role

We’re currently looking to recruit brilliant Software Engineers to help us deliver the best products within the health tech industry. You’ll join our EMIS X analytics team and support with building and upgrading the functionality of customer-facing apps, specifically working on our first product in the EMIS-X analytics suite, Explorer, which delivers self-service business intelligence for healthcare by enabling users to query, analyse and visualise data. What you’ll do

As a Software Developer skilled in Python and SQL you’ll…

  • Get involved in all aspects of the development lifecycle including architecture, code reviews, testing and non-functionals, as well as cutting code.
  • Support with the enhancement of the product to add new features & improve functionality.
  • Collaborate with others across the business and work with the latest technology such as Python, SQL, AWS, Spark, Airflow and more.
  • Actively contribute to technical discussions and work towards to solutions to complex problems.
  • We are looking for both Developers and Senior Developers – as a senior you’ll be expected to coach and mentor more junior members of the team and potentially line manage too.

The team you’ll join

Our team is curious, driven, intelligent, pragmatic, collaborative, open-minded, but most importantly, we get things done.  We’ve got developers, Solution Architects, Technical Architects and Data Scientists and we’re geographically spread across the UK and India.

The team mostly works from home (even in non-lockdown mode!) so this is an option that is open to you. We also have collaboration hubs in Leeds, Bolton and Watford if you prefer to visit the office more frequently – it’s up to you!

What you’ll bring

These are the skills and experience you’ll need to set yourself up for success in this role, however we’d still love to talk to you even if you don’t tick all of them:

  • You’ll have a programming background with excellent knowledge of Python, SQL and hopefully Airflow
  • Any experience with AWS or cloud technologies would be a bonus – we work in AWS
  • Experience working across Big Data – we’re open to the technology
  • You’ll be a team player, a collaborator and comfortable with remote working and most importantly you’ll take ownership and pride in the work that you delivery
