Hours: 6 – 10 meetings a year and additional commitments as agreed

The Board of British Canoeing consists of 12 members in total;
– Six members are nominated by the National Associations of England (3), Scotland (1), Wales (1) and Northern Ireland (1), and approved by the AGM
– Five members are Independently appointed by the Board and approved by the AGM
– The CEO is also an ex officio member of the Board.

This role is one of three English Directors on the Board of British Canoeing. Any full English Member of British Canoeing is eligible to apply for the English Forum nominated position on the Board.

Nominees should have a good understanding of the structure of canoeing within England, and ideally have experience of working within one or more of the Committees of British Canoeing.

The Board has recently completed a skills audit and is committed to working to create the ideal skills mix within the Board. The English Forum nominee will ideally have an understanding of, and involvement in, the committee structure of canoeing in England and a background in one or more of the following areas:

● Competition discipline-specific experience
● Clubs and volunteering
● Coaching and leadership
● Performance sport
● Safety
● Marketing

In addition, the English Forum nominee may be invited to join the HR & Remuneration Committee of the Board and so the Board would particularly welcome candidates with a strong human resources management and/or learning and development background.
