Your new role
EMIS is the UK leader in connected healthcare software and services. Our solutions are widely used across every major UK healthcare setting, from primary and community care to high street pharmacies, secondary care and specialist services. Dedicated to creating and implementing innovative IT solutions, we’re giving healthcare professionals access to the information they need to provide better, faster and cheaper patient care.
As a Database Administrator at EMIS, you would be joining a team that manage a system that supports 65 million patient records with 250 million user interactions a month, not only that but as a business, we are one of the Top 10 SQL shops globally.
Our Database Administrators help with the management and future-proofing of our databases, they are also involved with exciting major projects such as the re-writing of our core clinical system. You’ll be involved in ensuring the performance, availability and scalability of our system and for capacity management.
Please note, whilst this is a homeworking position and we will accept applications from across the UK there would be the expectation to visit our Collaboration Hub in Leeds on a semi-regular basis for key meetings/team working (COVID dependent).
The team you’ll join
You’ll be joining Philip’s team of 7 Database Administrators who work 24/7 to manage millions of patient records, ensuring our server response times (currently a twentieth of a second) remain functioning.
Due to the systems operating 24 hours a day we do require on-call rota participation on a 1 week in 4 rota once you’re up to speed so we include an on-call allowance and paid overtime for call outs.
What you’ll bring
These are the skills and experience you’ll need to set yourself up for success for this role, however, we’d still love to talk to you even if you don’t tick all of them:
- Excellent understanding of SQL Server
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft and HP products
- The ability to effectively communicate at all levels
- Proven experience working at pace & scale
What we’ll give you
Along with a competitive salary and benefits package which includes things like a pension, life assurance and gym discounts!
We also take our corporate social responsibility pretty seriously and we believe in giving back to our community, so you’ll get the chance to be involved in lots of fundraising events throughout the year. Our latest one was a challenge to complete up to a 100km walk over 24hrs across the Peak District!
