What we’re up to at Matchable

  • We’re a London-based Tech for Good startup disrupting the old-school way of employee volunteering. We’ve just raised our pre-seed round so you’ll be joining at a really exciting stage of our growth!
  • Our approach reimagines volunteering. We pair employees with unique volunteering opportunities at exciting non-profits and startups by helping them find their perfect cause and the best use of their skills – some might call it a perfect ‘match’!
  • We’ve experienced fantastic traction since launch in 2019 and are currently onboarding some of the UK’s biggest and most innovative companies, with the aim of delivering £2 billion of value via 6 million hours of volunteering to organisations changing the world over the next 3 years.
  • We launched the newest version of our platform in September 2021 and are excited to be taking Matchable to the next level by scaling our client base, becoming the go-to company for employee volunteering!

The job and your mission

  • The end goal of this role is to get as many companies as possible to sign up to Matchable and make their (and our!) biggest impact!
  • You’ll be responsible for the top of the funnel, reaching out to companies with the goal of getting a meeting. This role is all about outreach and will be pivotal for us as the first point of contact that any potential client will encounter. We won’t lie: there will be a lot of ‘no’s’ and people not responding, but also lots of wins that we can celebrate together!
  • We’re growing quickly and we want you to grow with us. If you nail the role, you’ll get more responsibility; things like attending meetings and doing demos etc. Right now though, this is all about getting meetings booked with potential customers.
  • Your success (and commission!) will be based on results. Specifically, meetings booked that have converted to an opportunity.

What we are looking for

  • You can’t get a degree in sales (!) so if you haven’t been to university, we don’t mind at all. Some experience in sales would be nice but not critical. This is an entry-level role so as long as you’re hungry, resilient and want to build a career in sales, we’d love to hear from you!
  • In 2021, we tripled our revenue compared to 2020 and we need more sales people to help us to keep growing and reach our goals. You will become part of a tight-knit team of highly passionate people. It’s definitely a startup, so we’re looking for someone who can deal with the highs and lows! We’re also not perfect, so always keen to test new ideas that will help us grow faster.

Your attributes

These are absolutely not must-haves, but here’s an idea of the type of person and the traits we’re looking for. Chances are there will be some things in this list you’d like to improve on too – and we’d love to help you do that!

  • Goal-oriented – Are motivated by hitting targets and key metrics
  • Resilient – A ‘no’ is water off a duck’s (and your!) back – you view this as one step closer to a yes!
  • Hard-working – Are curious, have a positive attitude and eager to learn.
  • Master communicator – Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Organised – You like having a plan for the day, knowing when to follow-up and when to chase.
  • Excited to work in a fast-paced startup environment and with a tight-knit team to build & grow a business.

How we’ll measure your success

  • Prospecting activities (mainly through email)
  • Number of meetings booked
  • Number of opportunities sourced

  • Access to therapists and mental health support through Spill.
  • Flexible working and results-driven. We don’t mind how or where you do your work as long as it gets results. We’re in the office a day a week in Bank, currently.
  • Access to a wide range of benefits through Juno.
  • Access to financial wellbeing app Bippit.
  • Unlimited holiday – we encourage everyone to take a minimum of 25 days.
  • Volunteering days and access to Matchable, obviously.
  • Ability to take religious and cultural holidays that suit you. We know not everyone celebrates Christmas!

You’ve read all this way… You may as well apply!

If this role sounds like you, please send your answers to these three questions to sareeka@wearematchable.com.

Please do NOT send your CV.

Question 1

Tell us about a time when you had to meet a target of getting more customers, members, clients etc. This could have been at work, at university, at school… wherever! We want to know how you approached this and how you went about meeting your target.

Question 2

Tell us about a time you never gave up and showed true perseverance/resilience till it got you to your goal.  We’re looking for a can-do attitude and sheer grit!

Question 3

Tell us about a time you had to challenge the status quo / create a new process, or a time you had to use a different approach to get to your end result – how did you go about it? What did you learn?  We are looking for stories of adaptability and creativity!

We believe in everyone

  • At its core, Matchable is about bringing people together, so Diversity and Inclusion are more than just buzzwords to us. We are building an inclusive culture where everyone is encouraged to bring their authentic selves and feel a sense of belonging. We recognise there is more to be done and are committed to making equality a core part of our business.
  • A lot of the impact organisations we work with and projects we list are focused on improving diversity and equality – so it wouldn’t be right for us to not prioritise this in our team and culture. We’re recruiting based on skills and potential, and we’re open to applications from everyone from any background, education level, race, gender, sexuality etc. – we believe this is what truly makes you ‘you’, so if you think this is the role for you, don’t hesitate to apply.
